A couple of weeks ago we wrote about the essential Cyber security your clients need whilst working from home. One thing we mentioned but didn’t go into detail with are a couple of pieces of software which could massively improve your home backup strategies. We offer two solutions for backing up home users’ machines – The Datahive ACB client agent and the Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows.
Many of you will be familiar with the Datahive OBM client, so for a simple, slimline solution we provide the ACB client. It is incredibly easy to setup and use, and allows backup of files and folders, Windows System image and up to 2 x Office 365 accounts.
The Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is a comprehensive image based backup and recovery application for Windows-based workstations, physical servers and cloud instances.
For those familiar with Veeam, the Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows utilises the same proven guest processing engine found in Veeam Backup & Replication. This helps bring the power and flexibility you need to ensure availability for your physical Windows workstations and servers through:
- Complete visibility and control: Get a full overview of your backup activity through a single pane-of-glass UI when combined with Veeam Backup and Replication, and gain control of backup activities with a click of a button.
- The ability to organise, automate and deploy with Veeam Agent protection groups. Create groups based on Microsoft Active directory or CSV files and configure custom automatic update and deployment schedules.
- Remote and mobile offices: Protect roaming devices and computers at remote offices with just one backup job to your Veeam Cloud Connect repository, which can be done in just a few clicks. Limited connectivity is not a problem with a local cache to store backups while on the go.
- Flexible recovery: With options for bare-metal restores, Instant VM Recovery®, direct restore to Microsoft Azure and AWS and file-level restores, users have many options for recovering their data. Enjoy the peace-of-mind that comes with reduced downtime, reduced risk of data loss and confidence in meeting or exceeding recovery point objectives every time.
The free version of the agent is intended for usage at home or with single endpoints and is well worth checking out. However, to follow best practice backup strategies you will want to follow the 3-2-1 backup rule. The way Veeam enables this is through Veeam Cloud Connect, as mentioned above, which is available on the workstation and server licences, along with many other features for complete control over your backups.
For more information on either of these products please get in contact and we will be happy to help.
